Nicola ( Nikki) Fortin completed her Master's Degree in Counselling Psychology from the University of Calgary. She has also completed numerous Post-Graduate courses in Marital Family Therapy and holds an Undergraduate degree in Music Therapy. Nicola has extensive clinical training and experience working with individuals, families, and couples. additionally, Nicola leads workshops and retreats focusing on the neurology of trauma and anxiety; uncovering core beliefs; healing conditioned patterns of coping; and increasing self-awareness.
Nicola has over 30 years of experience in the practice of yoga and yoga nidra, as well as training in Energy Healing and somatic experiencing. The blending of these modalities influences her approach, incorporating healing on all levels of the human experience. She believes that real and lasting change occurs when the body, mind and affect are all aligned in a healing environment.
Furthermore, Nicola has specialized training in EMDR, attachment-based theories, early child brain development, resilience therapy, and mindfulness-based cognitive therapy (CBT). She has expertise in treating various mental health conditions, including: Depression, anxiety, trauma, relational issues, early childhood disorders, phase of life challenges, family of origin issues and more.
